I'm on a boat.. and Cover Girl Classic review
First off let me just say - guess where I'm writing this. ON A BOAT!
That's right I'm on a boat mother-f******!
hehe I love that song, but I actually am on a boat while writing this!

So i wanted to do this blog to review the Classic, i know i said i might do live blogging but the stupid link wouldn't work so I'm relying on the kindness of fellow youtubers to upload the routines. I must say a big thank you to gymnast7225, who has uploaded like everyone's routines!
Well here is a list of the results:

Congrats to Olivia Courtney.

She had a very solid performance although she isn't really getting that much credit for it, everyone is just talking about Nastia, Sam, Ivana, etc. I think part of the reason is that she isn't a praticularly exciting gymnast, well in my opinion. She doesn't have any wow skills really, she just goes along consistently hitting her average routines. She is still a great gymnast though but she doesn't have anything that makes her stand out yet.

I was really excited to see Ivana and see how she is doing in WOGA but she kinda disappointed me. I mean she still has great lines and I really like her new floor routine but she just seemed off. Maybe it was just nerves but I hope she can get it together for Nationals.
Wow Sam looks so much older and more confident and really pretty. Her vault as the same as ever and her beam was great, not as solid as it was but I know she is still getting back into training. She has almost confirmed that she will be doing a double arabian dismount at Nationals so I can't wait to see that! Suprisingly she hasn't put on any weight since the Olympics event though she took off all that time afterwards to heal her injury.
Nastia's routine was pretty much the same, little less solid and it was a pity about the watered down dismount. Her switch ring was not good though but well done to her for not falling off! Hope to see her even better at Nationals.

I can't believe Rebecca Bross is injured AGAIN! That poor girl has the worst look, I really wanted her to shine at the classic but I hear that she sucessfully petitioned to Nationals so I'm hoping to see more of her there. Her bars was very good besides the dismount. She gets such height on her releases and WOGA has taught her great lines. If she can stay injury-free I can see her becoming a star in this quadranieum, she has the big skills and power but she also has nice lines and flexibility. However I think she needs some different dance on floor.
Kayla Williams was very impressive. Her floor routine in particular!
She still needs to work on her dance and leaps, some of her splits aren't quite 180 but the tumbling is amazing. Almost stuck double layout, stuck double pike, a triple twist as a SIDE PASS and a beautiful stuck full-in double pike as a finish.
I know I havn't included everyone in this but havn't seen all the routines yet.
So I think the Classic was a bit flat to be honest but I know it is just like a warm-up for Nationals which is where the real showdown will be. Charloadams made this great promo for it and it really gets you excited and pumped up :)
She has many more amazing vids so you should definatly pop by her channel.
Also check out this great article about Marvin Sharp and Bridget and Sam -->

He seems like a great coach and I can see there being competition between Sam and Bridget for the National title. They are both well capable of winning! Only 16 days! Can't wait! :)
Bye for Now,
Megs.

Updates..
So i know I say this all the time but I'm sorry for not posting recently!
Anyway I was thinking and I'm going to turn this into a more personal blog, don't get me wrong, I will still be posting about gym events and stuff but also about my life :)
So here we go.
Well at the start of the I started back at gym. It was amazing to be back, it was quite tough getting back into it but it was so rewarding. I have lost a lot of skills, flexibility and strength but I'm working really hard over the summer to get them back! The annoying thing about Irish gymnastics is that it barely gets any money and no-one really cares about it. Also in our gym (and many others) you have to put out the equipment at the start of training and then put it away again at the end. It's really annoying and it eats up training time! Hopefully someday Irish gymnastics will improve.
Also I'm starting coaching in September! I cannot wait, it is going to be great, I've always wanted to co coaching!
I got a new phone today, my other one broke :( Its the LG KS360.
Here's a piccy -->

I think it's pretty slick if i do say so myself! I love the keyboard and it's really handy for going on twitter, facebook, etc.
Covergirl Classic is on today!
Yay! Can't wait to see Nastia back in action. Sadly she is only doing beam but I'm sure it will be spectacular anyway. Also looking forward to seeing Sam Peszek. I've always liked Sam and I've felt that she never got enough attention. Her gymnastics is incredible, double double on floor, double arabian off beam (not that I have seen it), back with full on beam straight into back pike. She has some amazing skills yet she is always kinda in the shadow of Nastia and Shawn. Although Shawn seems to have disappears from the gymnastics world completely so maybe it's Sammy time to shine. I mean check out this awesome beam routine from her at the 08 American Cup:

Need I say more?
I'm gonna try and watch the live streaming of the Classic, fingers crossed it works. If I do then I may do live blogging too! But if I can't watch it I hope that someone out there would be kind enough to put it on youtube for me...
Working on a few vids for youtube atm, don't really have any inspiration to finish them though. Have lots of ideas but I also have some requests to do and I'm finding them hard.
Speaking of youtube I have a new background so you should go check it out -
You know I wish I could change my name on youtube, when I first made my account I had no idea that I would be making videos one day. Just goes to show how times change.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Hmm I really don't know what to make of the film.

First off for those of you that don't know, I'm a Harry Potter nerd, I study the books religiously. They are my favourite books of all time. Although I have seen all the movies (even went to the premiere of the first and second one) they just don't compare to the books. Anyways I was really looking forward to this movie as the sixth book was my favourite and to be honest it was a bit of a let down, don't get me wrong, it was a great film but it wasn't as great as it could have been.So lets start off with the good things:
Tom Felton/Draco Malfoy

Whoa, Tom Felton deserves a medal or something for his performance, he really made the film for me. I mean I've always been a fan of Draco, I always like bad guys but in this movie I just wanted to give him a big hug and tell him it's okay. When he was about to kill Dumbledore and he was saying 'I have to do this' my heart was just breaking. It was soo incredible, oh and the bathroom scene where he was crying was so great too, I loved seeing this other side to Draco. Also he was pretty hot in this film, which is always plus ;)
Effects
Insane. nuff said.
Added Scenes
They were good, kinda random but they were well done. However I would have preferred for them to be left out and for other more important scenes put in.
Harry High on Liquid Luck
In my opinion the best acting Dan has ever done. One of my favourite scenes in the film, brilliantly done, couldn't have imagined it any better.
And the bad things..
Harry and Ginny
Relationship was not built up enough and the kiss? Ha, what kiss?
Ron and Hermione
It was too obvious that they liked each other. In the book there is always something there but you never quite know for sure that they definitely like each other.
The Ending
Way too rushed. Dumbledore's death wasn't built up enough either, I didn't feel anything watching the film yet when I read the book I was crying my eyes out. No funeral either.
Not Enough Memories
Hello only two memories? Wtf? They should have at least put in the one about the Gaunt family.
No Fight
Why did they take out the fight? I was really looking forward to that, the one in the seventh film better be amazing!
I think that overall the film, as part of a series, was quite good but the film on it's own was weak. I also don't think it felt like a film itself, it felt like it was just a prequel to the next one and that they are saving all the great stuff for the last two.
Anyway I will stop blabbering on now!
Will post again soon..
Comments are always appreciated :)
Love Megs.
xoxo

COngrats Shawn :)
Shawn wins Dancing With the Stars!
Good for her. I didn't really follow it that closely but I'm glad she won!
Wonder what she is going to do now..will she go back to gym or go on to something else?

Not much news in the gym world at the moment. I suppose things are always slow after the Olympics. Can't wait for the US Nationals. I really want to see Nastia's new routines and I want to see Sam's double arabian off beam! Wish it would hurry up. :(

Why won't Nationals come quicker?

Chellsie Memmel may be competing in another worlds..!
Inside Gymnastics tweeted (?!) that Chellsie is 85% healed and that she is planning on competing in another Worlds.

Way to Dominate
Wow the USA completely owned that competition against Germany. They won the team and the first five places in the AA. Nice job ;)
The finals score for the teams was USA 232.400 points and Germany 219.700. USA also had the top scores on every event.
The All-Around results were:
1. Bridget Sloan, USA, 59.550
2. Corrie Lothrop, USA, 56.500
3. Mackenzie Caquatto, USA, 56.400
4. Olivia Courtney, USA, 55.950
5. Bridgette Caquatto, USA, 55.800
6. Kim Bui, Germany, 55.750
7. Mattie Larson, USA, 55.650
8. Anja Brinker, Germany, 55.250
9. Susann Herbst, Germany, 54.000
10. Elisabeth Seitz, Germany, 53.250
11. Desiree Baumert, Germany, 51.850
12. Katja Roll, Germany, 51.250
I'm really glad Bridget won, although I wanted Mattie Larson to do better, I think she may have fallen off bars or something because her score there was only 12.400!
Way to dominate ;)
In other news Leinster beat Munster in the rugby 25-6! Yay! Now they're off to the Heineken Cup Final, Can't Wait!
